(Rochester, MN)—The Rochester Honkers Baseball Club announced today its complete game schedule for the 2009 season. The four-time Northwoods League Champions begin their 16th season at home on Thursday, May 28th, when the Mankato MoonDogs come to Mayo Field for a 7:05PM first pitch.
The Honkers will play a 68 game schedule in 75 days, beginning on May 28th and ending on August 10th. The 15th Annual NWL All-Star Game will be on Tuesday, July 21st at Port Arthur Stadium in Thunder Bay, Ontario. The NWL Playoff Series will take place from August 11th through August 16th. The winner of each division’s two halves will meet in a best-of-three divisional playoff series (Aug. 11,12,13) with the winners advancing to the NWL Championship Series (Aug. 14,15,16), also a best-of-three.
The Honkers will face each North Division team 8 times (4 home, 4 away) and each South Division team 4 times (2 home, 2 away) with the exception of not playing the Battle Creek Bombers and Waterloo Bucks. This will be the first time since 1995 that the Honkers will not play their Highway 63 Rivals, the Waterloo Bucks, during the regular season.
