PSAC Ranked Throughout Collegiate Baseball Poll

From Summer Ball News Source
INDIANA, Pa. - The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference, NCAA Division II, is well represented in Collegiate Baseball’s Division II pre-season baseball poll with seven teams ranked for 2009. West Chester University (15), Shippensburg University (23), and Mansfield University (39) are listed among the Top 40, along with Indiana University, PA (42), Slippery Rock University (43), Kutztown University (45), and California University, PA (50) rounding out the poll of 58 total teams. Collegiate Baseball ranks the top 40 programs and also lists 18 others as receiving votes.

“When I see half of the teams in our league in a national poll, I immediately think of all the talented players and the high level of play in the PSAC,” commented Indiana University (PA) Head Baseball Coach Jeff Ditch. “It really points to the fact that the PSAC is a nationally competitive conference and the players, coaches, and each university sees baseball as a great tool to enhance the student-athletes experience.”

“Another interesting thing about this poll is the break-down of the 58 schools state-by-state and Pennsylvania has the most with seven,” added Ditch. “The state really has a strong talent base for our league to recruit. And not only us, but you can find several Pennsylvania high school players in the WVIAC, and of course with several DI teams in the state as well.”

Break down state-by-state, with states having three or more teams in the poll listed:
7 – Pennsylvania
6 – Florida
4 – California
4 – Georgia
3 – Indiana
3 – North Carolina
3 – Minnesota
3 – South Carolina
3 – Texas

The PSAC opens non-conference baseball action on Saturday, February 7, 2009 when Shippensburg travels to Belmont Abbey, North Carolina. For complete details of PSAC, please visit:
