Throughout the fall and winter, I will be highlighting, spotlighting or mentioning players that I believe are poised to have either big seasons in 2010 or are poised to have a breakout season. Again, I'm not a scout in any way or shape. The one constant factor in my picking of the players is that they all had productive summer seasons.
Anthony Ottrando is a Senior infielder from Eastern Kentucky University. He is 5-11/195 pounds and hails from Ocala, FL. He transferred from the University of Kentucky after the 2007 season. This past year for EKU, Anthony hit .340/527/428 in 188 at-bats. He scored 41 runs, knocked in 50 and smacked 8 homers during the year.
Anthony really shined this summer as he played for the Front Royal Cardinals of the VBL. He lead the Cardinals with a .324 batting average in 105 at-bats. He scored 21 runs, drove in 16 and hit 5 home runs. He also stole 8 bases this summer.
I think that Anthony is poised to become one of the better players in the Ohio Valley Conference this upcoming year.

Ottrando is a consistent hitter and fielder who has sometimes been overlooked. In 2009 he finished the college season with only one error. In 2008, despite being eighth in hitting for the entire OVC, he was overlooked for all OVC honors. He is an exceptional and consistent talent with both his bat and glove.
Take notice!
